I feel it should be free for how short it is. 7/10. Sweet Fantasy is a cute little game that for the price, you can do much worse for 4 bucks. The CGs are good and even the sprites are quite nice considering the price. The storyline is short and there aren't too many branches to explore so a complete 100% takes little more than 1 and a half hours. The adult patch (see the community hub for directions) adds a few additonal CGs but you never see more than boobs The translations are the worst part of the game with some grammatical errors that take a second or third read to make sense of, and a few completely left-field misspellings. The music is alright when it is, from what I can tell, an original compostition and not some kind of a jazzy-classical rendition of a public domain song (Yes there is a rather weird version of the Itsy Bitsy Spider)TL;DRIf you have 4 bucks to burn or can pick it up on sale, go for it. Keep in mind you're getting what you pay for so don't expect a masterpiece.. I was hoping for more from this game. I played it through to all three endings, none of which satisfied me (and I mean that in a gamer way, not a carnal way). Some of the options led to demeaning situations that made me want to take a scalding shower to get the icky feeling to go away. It felt like a girl-on-girl game made for guys. Not to mention that the translation was very bad. It did sort of add do the dimwitted, ditzy protagonist, I guess. But that was another thing. I really didn't give a crap if she won or lost. And the love interest was...well...horrible. The ONLY character I cared about was the mermaid, and she was barely in it.In the end, I just skipped dialogue and clicked past the unread to unlock all the achievements so I could have it done with. Sorry game-makers.. Funny visual story about a green forest maid with green boobs :))))who fell in love with her lady boss :) There are different endings, i've already found two or three of them, but all these were wrong; so i will definitely be looking for some better one :)Pleasant beautiful graphics, big boobs, nice sense of humour - perhaps too many boring dialogues, but developers thought about that and made a button to rewind fast forward all the dialogues that you have already read.. Right…I was actually wondering whether I should bother to review this one, given the potentially embarrassing subject matter and the fact that it is barely even a game, but if my online tracker of my journey to beat all my games is going to mean anything, I need to be showing the worst of this as well as the best. So yeah. I played, beat and yes, completed Sweet Fantasy. This visual novel was brought to my attention by the Co-Optional Podcast hosted by TotalBiscuit, Dodger and Jesse Cox in the release section they did at the end. I enjoy the show and it is how I hear about a lot of games, and having heard a brief description of Sweet Fantasy I thought I’d give it a go. I’d never had a visual novel game before, so I don’t know if this one was a good one to get started on. It’s about a dryad called Pumpkin, who is hopelessly in love with her mistress, Ms Amethyst, and she’s trying to make a love potion in order to get Amethyst to sleep with her.So the question is: Is it any good? And the answer is no. The idea is puerile, but it allows an unashamed exploration into a lesbian relationship between a dryad and an elf (I’m assuming Amethyst is an elf; her ears are pointed,) and had potential. But the characters are shallower than a petri dish and it’s not very interesting at all. Pumpkin is dozy and silly, Amethyst is stuck up and arrogant, and this doesn’t vary at all through the ‘plot.’ There are other characters in it, a snail and a mermaid, but they’re all ‘One-shots’ (only appearing in their scene) and don’t contribute much more. The plot is a mixture of a short journey and confused ramblings: you either find what you’re looking for to make the potion or you don’t; it doesn’t go anywhere else. Also the localisation wasn’t very good; the text could have used an extra pair of eyes to check spellings and grammar. I know that sounds like a minor gripe but if you’re trading on the idea of being a visual novel, we could at least expect some competency in the text!As for the so-called gameplay, that comes down to a couple of decisions you have to make with regard to how to handle certain plot points. This reminds me more than anything else of the old 90s ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ books, and I guess fits in with the idea of a visual novel. But there’s no skill involved; no indication of what you’re supposed to be doing, or which choice is the right one. It is guesswork, nothing more; you either get it right or you don’t. The small amount of challenge comes from remembering what the wrong choice was, re-loading the game and choosing the other option. Any game needs to have an enjoyable process and a satisfying outcome, and unless you really like soft porn slideshows, this doesn’t have much of either. So is there anything good about the game at all? Well, the art is very well drawn, I’ll give it that. Obviously an anime style, but it works. It’s clear that this is where most of the effort went in to development, perhaps to over-compensate for a lack of writing talent. There’s no game-breaking crashes or bugs that I could see, and it was designed competently enough to at least include a ‘skip’ button for parts of the dialogue that you’ve seen before. Very useful when re-playing sections for the better ending! And at least it’s not very long; I’d seen the whole game in roughly 40 minutes. Now I know what you’re thinking: “But Matt,” you’re thinking, “what did you expect? It should have been obvious what this was; an over-sexualised piece of fan service. How could you have possibly thought this was going to be any good?” Well, in fact, I didn’t. It was a dip into a genre of game that I hadn’t looked at before, and I’d never have known until I tried it. Now that I have, I feel no need to do so again.. Let's start with the cons: it's short and the grammar is somewhat off, not really bad, but it's obviously written by someone with a limited knowledge of the English language. The story is funny though and the graphics are actually pretty good. Wish there were more encounters, especially since the story gives a few set ups that could have been used, like the chase scene after Pumpkin destroys sunflowers in the field of a sorcere and when she visits the ruin of a sorcerer who was experimenting with a potion that could change someones gender. Definitely worth the low price.. ez speedrun. From developer salamandra88 and publisher 7DOTS comes Sweet fantasy; a yuri, kinetic visual novel. This is on sale currently as a promotion, at £1.11 (reduced from £2.79) and I decided to give it a go after it was sat on my wish list for a while. Pumpkin, a young nymph, has fallen in love with the woman she serves, Amethyst, and goes around a secret plan to get her mistress to fall in love with her. Help Pumpkin along the journey by making decisions for her, unlock trading cards, screenshots, and achievements.First of all, I feel like £2.79 is a bit steep for this game. It took me under an hour to complete and wasn’t as immersive as I would have liked for a game of this stature. I feel a little like I wasted my money, as the story is pretty much the same whatever route you take, even with four different endings. It was fun going through the game to collect all the different achievements, but it got boring pretty quickly – I’ve never been more grateful for the skip button over routes you’ve already taken. The story itself is pretty generic – servant falls in love with master, tries to get master to love them, by use of magic. It’s something that’s been used in a lot of different games before, a lot of different stories, and this one wasn’t really much different. The character designs were nice to look at, and the some of the routes (such as the raven) did make me chuckle. However, it didn’t hold out all the way and I felt that the game was lacking when I finished the game. It was a disappointment, especially as this game was so highly positively rated. I feel like I wasted my money on this, and I would refund it if it were possible. I’d personally recommend skipping this one. There are plenty of free yuri kinetic and visual novels on Steam that are much better to play. I’m upset I didn’t really like this one. I just wish it had been better.
